Skin care wants to be easy, but it’s not. A little bit of effort makes a world of difference in your beauty routine. Even though you may think you know your skin well, there may be a few things you don’t. Here is a list of simple skincare do’s and don’ts for your best skin.

Cleansing your skin is the first step to a radiant, healthy complexion. Cleanse your skin well in the morning as well as night to remove dirt and oil, using a mild cleanser of your choice. Apply gentle,

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking enough water to keep your skin hydrated is essential to a healthy, glowing complexion. It may shock some of you but the truth is that our skin is the largest organ of our bodies and it needs a lot of care. At least 6 cups or 64 ounces of water daily is needed to have healthy and clear skin, so make sure you’re drinking enough water! Water helps your body get rid of toxic waste, and it keeps the skin fresh and elastic.

Sleep Well

Your skin is more than just an organ, it’s your most sensitive and complex organ. During sleep your body works hard to repair itself and produce new cells, which means that you will have less wrinkles, scars and spots. One of the most effective ways is to have a regular sleep routine such as going to bed at the same time each day, having a consistent sleep schedule at night and napping during the day.

Apply Spot Treatments

Try spot treatments for acne and pigmentations. For acne, spot treatments of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid generally work well. Spot treatments can help your skin get back to normal. Use spot treatments before they get darker or worse. Apply a small amount of the treatment stick to a cotton ball and apply to the area right before bed.

Don’t let your Skin Dry

Don’t ever let your skin dry up as it can result in skin issues in the future. Keep moisturizing with a good-quality fragrance free moisturizer and keep your face clean by washing with mild, gentle cleansers. If your skin gets dry, the oil glands at the top of the skin will stop producing enough sebum – which is the natural greasiness that helps keep our skin looking healthy.

Don’t Rub or Pop your Pimples

If you are experiencing acne and have been rubbing your pimples, it’s time to stop. Doing so can cause damage as well as leaving scars. The best thing to do is gently exfoliate your face with a facial scrub and then wash off the excess dirt by washing with a gentle cleanser. Rubbing or popping pimples can lead to scarring and permanent marks.

Don’t Forget your Sunscreen

To protect your face and skin, sunscreen is essential. The sun is the main cause of premature skin aging. Protect your skin with sunscreen every morning and every evening. Sunscreen is the single most important skincare step you can take to help protect your skin from sun damage. Apply sunscreen every day, even when going indoors. Look for products with at least an SPF 30, which blocks both UVB rays (responsible for wrinkles and skin cancer) and infrared radiation (think tanning lotion). Make sure you’re staying consistent with wearing sunscreen to get the best results.

Don’t Sleep with Makeup

You are putting your skin at risk when you sleep with makeup. There are many risks of the skin care industry today and these include premature aging. Do not sleep with makeup as it can cause irritation and allergic reaction. This may lead to redness, swelling and even a rash on your face. Don’t forget to cleanse the face after applying any kind of makeup as well.

Don’t Use Aggressive Skincare

Using aggressive and harsh skincare products on your skin can be damaging and may cause breakouts. Instead, choose products with gentle cleansers and moisturizers. Avoid aggressive skin care products such as scrubbing, rubbing or pulling when you are trying to remove dry, dull or patchy skin. All of these actions will cause the skin to tighten and can lead to more breakouts. Also avoid harsh exfoliating products as they can cause irritation and lead to premature ageing of your skin.
